Anastasio Aguirre-Mendez, 73, of Topeka, died May 5, 2013 at a local hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Parral, Mexico on April 27, 1940. Anastasio was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Anastasio married Margarita Rivera in Parral, Mexico. She survives. They were married for 49 years. He is also survived by his children, Cecilia Aguirre, Olga Aguirre and Jorge Aguirre all of Mexico and Maricela Aguirre, Alberto Aguirre, Luz Miramontes, Delia Aguirre and Rodrigo Aguirre all of Topeka, 35 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Gabriel Aguirre-Mendez of Mexico and Manuel Aguirre of El Paso, Texas and a sister, Ramona Aguirre of El Paso, Texas. Anastasio will lie in state at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday after 2:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
