Ray A. Rangel, 92, of Topeka, died August 12, 2012 at Midland Hospice House surrounded by his family. He was born in Topeka, Kansas on March 21, 1920 the son of Tiburcio and Eulogia (Araiza) Rangel. Ray served his country during World War in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Rangel Brothers American GI Forum. He retired in 1985 as a Mechanic for Hill Packing Company. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus. Ray enjoyed fishing, yard work, gardening and washing dishes. He especially liked to spend time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren. Ray married Ruby Mosqueda in Topeka, Kansas on March 11, 1945. She preceded him in death on July 24, 2005. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Joe, John, Edward and Fidel. He is survived by his children; Arthur (Sharon) Rangel of Topeka, Danny (Marcia) Rangel of Raymore, MO., Monica (Butch) Rangel of Olathe and Rosie Rangel of Topeka, two brothers, Tiburcio Rangel Jr. and Felipe Rangel and two sisters, Aurora Jaramillo and Carmen Perez. He has many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Ray will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday where his family will receive friends from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m. and a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment with military honors will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
