Catherine Pfannenstiel, 81, of Topeka, died July 27, 2012 at Aldersgate Village. She was born in Odin, Kansas on May 25, 1931 the daughter of Edward and Hermina (Jenisch) Hermann. Catherine was retired from the State of Kansas where she had been a Field Representative for the Kansas Department of Revenue. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church since 1950. Catherine and her husband were avid golfers. She was a devoted, loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother and loved cooking and spending time with her family. Catherine married Edward W. Pfannenstiel at Sacred Heart Church in Topeka on January 11, 1950. He preceded her in death on July 28, 2007. She is survived by a daughter, Susan M. Pfannenstiel of Topeka, two sons, Nicholas E. (Lynette) Pfannenstiel of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, and William T. (Pam) Pfannenstiel of Garland, Texas, four grandchildren, Traci, Ryan, Jason, and Renae, and three great grandchildren, Ryan, Hailey and Alexander. Her surviving siblings are Loretta Hoffman, Lucille Hermann, Leona Sparkman, Betty Allred, Sr. Mary Louis Hermann and Louis Hermann. She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Joseph Pfannenstiel, and her siblings, Bill, Erwin, Alvara, Irene, Rita, Sr. Clarissima and Edna. Catherine will lie in state on Tuesday after 2:00 p.m. at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where an Altar Society Rosary will be at 5:00 p.m. and a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
