Ethelreda Generosa (Menke) Lacore

Ethelreda Generosa (Menke) Lacore, 81, Topeka, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 22, 2012, after a long battle with Parkinson?s disease. Ethel was born on August 8, 1930, in St. Kilian, MN, the daughter of Leo G. and Clara M. (Brake) Menke. Ethel was the loving mother of seven children, twenty-four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and homemaking. She was the best mom, a caring person, and a dedicated Catholic. She was a long-time member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Topeka, KS. Ethel married her true love, James M. Lacore, on September 7, 1949. Survivors include her husband, Jim, and all their children and grandchildren. Their children include James R. Lacore, Prineville, OR; Gary L. Lacore, City of Orange, CA; Gail M. Becker, Val Verde, CA; Danny L. Lacore, Flower Mound, TX; Jayne M. Lacore, Valencia, CA; Janet M. Loehrke, Herndon, VA; and Linda M. Super, Wichita, KS. In addition, she had wonderful daughter and son-in-laws. Ethel is also survived by six of her seven siblings ? Florence Fienhage, Worthington, MN; Eileen Scott; Topeka, KS; Alphonse Menke, Worthington, MN; Vincent Menke, Danbury, WI; Leo Menke, St. Louis Park, MN; and Aloys (Pike) Menke, Apache Junction, AZ. Ethel?s oldest brother, Marvin Menke, died in World War II. Ethel was an aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews. Ethelreda will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a Parish Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Parish Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions for masses to be said in her name may be given to St. Matthew Catholic Church and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
