Ignacio M. "Bob" Padilla, 63, of Topeka, died Friday, April 12, 2013 at Stormont-Vail Hospital after complications due to advanced COPD and Pneumonia. Bob was born February 5, 1950 in Topeka the son of Miguel and Rose (Trujillo) Padilla. He attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School and graduated from Hayden High School where he was a member of the football team and played the trumpet in the marching band. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of Vietnam serving on the USS Bryce Canyon. After serving his country he worked as a boilermaker at Washburn University and Stormont-Vail Hospital. He then worked as an electrical lineman. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Bob loved to work on cars, he also enjoyed hunting and all sports especially baseball. Bob is survived by his mother Rose Padilla his brothers, Michael Padilla and his wife, Veronica, Daniel Padilla and his wife, Karla, David Padilla and his wife Kimberly all of Topeka. Many nieces, nephews and extended family also survive. He was preceded in death by his father, Miguel and a brother James. Bob will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Monday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
