Marjorie A. Anderson-Austin Ybarra, 91, of Topeka, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born July 15, 1921 in Topeka, the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Clerico) Anderson. She was a 1939 graduate of Capitol Catholic High School and Strickler?s Business College. Marjorie was a clerk for the AT&SF Railway Company retiring in 1973 after 30 years of service. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Marjorie was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Jayhawk 22 in Lawrence and held all state and local offices. She was also a National VAVS Representative from 1974 to 1976 and was the first woman to deliver the Memorial Address in Marysville, Kansas. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary Post #1650. Marjorie was a member of the Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503. Marjorie was a volunteer for Winter General Hospital for 4 years, for the Colmery O?Neil VA Medical Center for 66 years, and for the Topeka Community Concert for 37 years. She was married to Max Austin on June 9, 1951 and he preceded her in death on August 10, 1973. She married John G. Ybarra, Sr. on June 22, 1984 he preceded her in death on February 20, 2003. She was also preceded in death by a Brother-in-law, Ralph Austin and wife Rita of Leawood, KS. Marjorie is survived by her brother, Howard E. Anderson and wife Marcella of Topeka, her nephews, David Anderson, Gregory Anderson, and Roger Kemp, and three nieces, Ruth Anne Burns, Rhonda Marie Nelson and Rebecca Sue Emley. Marjorie will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Friday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a D of I Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
