Lieutitia Volene "Tish" Heft, 88, of Topeka, died February 28, 2013 at Plaza West Health Center. She was born in Cimarron, Kansas on November 28, 1924 the daughter of Volony and Mary Ellen (Goodman) Mills. She was a 1942 graduate of Cimarron High School where she had been active in the orchestra and was a twirller. She also received an Associate of Arts degree from Dodge City Community College. Lieutitia began her career as a telephone operator and was later an Apartment Manager for Northbrier Apartments in Dodge City, and Assistant Tour Director for the Bank of Southwest in Dodge City. She was most proud of being a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Her hobbies included: traveling, computers, grapho-analysis, genealogy, flower arranging, writing, art, ballroom dancing, playing the violin, poetry, doll making, gardening, bird watching, and photography. She was an excellent cook known for her pies and fried chicken and loved to host parties. Lieutitia was a Girl Scout and Bible Bowl Leader, Domestic Violence Advocate, member of Soroptimist International, graduate of the Menninger Bible Study, and served on the Board of Directors for Manhattan Christian College. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Dodge City where she was involved in the Win-A-Couple Class and the Keenagers Senior Group. In Topeka, she attended Brookwood Covenant and Town and Country Christian Church. She married Jimmie Harmon Heft in Garden City, Kansas on July 12, 1943. She is survived by her husband of 69 years. She is also survived by her two daughters, Suzanne and husband Stephen, and Desima and her husband Steven, her grandchildren, Mike (Andrea), James (Elizibeth), Luke (Yesenia), and step grandchildren, AnnMarie (Derek) and Cathie (Les), as well as eight great grandchildren and sister-in-laws, Betty Revel, Joan Heft, and DelMae Holden as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Volony Mills, mother, Mary Mills Holden, step-father Dave Holden and sister, Neva Belt Hirn, and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Coehn. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 10th at 2:00 P.M. at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Ft. Dodge Veterans Cemetery.
