Mary Katherine Stevens

Mary Katherine (Kay) Stevens, 95, died on February 4, 2013. She was born on January 20, 1918 in Powhattan, Kansas the daughter of Fred and Julia (Ebling) Wenger. Kay was educated in Whiting, Kansas and Des Moines, Iowa. Kay worked for 32 ½ years at Schoffert-Grimes in Gage Center and after retiring from there she worked for nine years as a Cashier for Tevis Restaurant. She married Ralph T. Brown in 1938 and they divorced in 1958. They had a son Ralph Terry Brown. In 1959 she married Donald Elmore Stevens and they had a son, Donald Eric Stevens. Her husband Donald, predeceased her in 1985. She is survived by her two sons, seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Kay will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Friday morning where the family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 am. prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Topeka Cemetery.
