Lorenzo M. Lemuz, 88, Topeka, KS died Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Midland Hospice Care. He was born September 5, 1924 in Belpre, KS the son of Cirilo and Josefa (Marquez) Lemuz. He was an Army Veteran serving in WW II. Lorenzo was employed by the AT & SF Railroad for 42 years retiring in 1986 during that time he also worked as a movie theater projectionist for 30 years where he served as their union representative. After retiring from both the railroad and the theater he was then the owner/operator of the Kozy Kitchen Restaurant. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #1. Lorenzo married Clara Hernandez on January 31, 1948 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include his daughter Alice Escalante and her husband, Thomas of Topeka, his siblings, Angela Rayla of Great Bend, Maria Palleschi of Maine, Baldomera Del Hiero and Luisa Pierce both of Great Bend, Tony Lemuz of Larned, Helen Asher of Great Bend, Jesse Lemuz of Larned, Robert Lemuz of Rozel, Isaac Lemuz and Steven Lemuz both of Larned. Five grandchildren Lynda Wolf, Andrea Glur, Stephanie Matchett, Jason Escalante and Matthew Escalante, along with nine great grandchildren also survive. Lorenzo was preceded in death by a son, Alfred David Lemuz and a granddaughter, Marie Lemuz along with four of Lorenzo?s siblings, Andrew, Luis, Luciano and Frankie Lemuz Lorenzo will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment with military honors will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
