Sophia Cuevas

Sophia Cuevas, 91 of Topeka, died February 1, 2013 at Stormont Vail Hospital. She was born July 19, 1921 the daughter of Catarino and Jesus (Ceballos) Espinoza. Sophia was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She married Raul Cuevas on February 14, 1942 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1987. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Emily. Sophia is survived by her children, Pat Perez and her husband Henry of Lenexa, Christina Cook and her husband, Butch of Topeka, Richard Cuevas and his wife Joyce of Tecumseh, Robert Cuevas and Ralph Cuevas and a sister, Helen Delci, all of Topeka. Six grandchildren, Michael, Lisa, Ryan, Traci, Maria, Blake and four great grandchildren also survive. Sophia will lie in state at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park.
