Lawrence Hull, 97, of Topeka, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Brewster Place. He was born on March 22, 1915 in Fort Scott, KS the son of Andrew Lawrence and Ida (Killion) Hull. Lawrence graduated from Ft. Scott High School, Ft. Scott Junior College, and received his undergraduate degree from William Jewell College. Lawrence received his Master?s degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia. Lawrence was in the Army for nine years and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a Microbiologist and worked for Lattimore Fink Laboratories and later Damon Laboratory for a total of 40 years. Lawrence confirmed the first case of Lyme disease in Kansas for Dr. Bedford at Stormont-Vail Hospital. Lawrence was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church He married Isabelle Glotzbach on October 11, 1948. They had been married for 62 years prior to her death on August 13, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Margaret Batley. He is survived by niece, Rayma Rodriguez (Ruben) of Newton, great nieces, Christina Rodriguez (Pat Butler) and family of Wichita and Elisa Montoya (Phillip) of Newton. Two brothers-in-law, Dennis Glotzbach (Ruby) of Topeka and Jack Meredith of Los Angeles, CA, three sisters-in-law, Edith Sack of St. Mary?s, KS, JoAnn Miller (Dale) and Irene Glotzbach both of Topeka along with many nieces and nephews also survive. Lawrence will lie in state from 12:00, noon, until 5:00 p.m., Friday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
