Joy Anne (Niehoff) Umscheid

Joy Anne (Niehoff) Umscheid, 61, of Topeka, died April 16, 2013 at the VA Hospital. She was born in Emporia, Kansas on January 23, 1952 the daughter of George A. and Joyce W. (Basel) Niehoff. Joy was a homemaker. She served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam era. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Joy enjoyed raising and breeding "Scottish Fold" cats for years under the "Osho" name. She also enjoyed watching TV, yard work and traveling. Joy married Galen F. Umscheid in Miami, Oklahoma on August 17, 1998. He survives. She liked to ride with Galen to various parts of the country on his Harley. She is loved and survived by a step-daughter, Nicole (Ryan) Boyd of Topeka, two granddaughters, Ellynor "Ellie" George and Cecylia "CeCe" Boyd, and her four brothers, Garry (Lila) Niehoff of Ottawa, Ks., James (Diane) Niehoff of Baldwin City, Ks., George (Kathy) Niehoff of Ottawa, Ks., and Glen (Jeralyn) Niehoff of Topeka, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, George Niehoff , her mother Joyce Niehoff Hamilton and step father Bill Hamilton. Joy will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Thursday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
