Mary Ellen Valdivia

Mary Ellen Valdivia, 57, of Topeka, died December 13, 2011 at Stormont-Vail Health Care. She was born January 29, 1954 in Topeka, the daughter of Enes and Carmen Guerrero Castardo. Mary was employed at Hallmark Cards for over 30 years before she went on disability. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She loved her cat and dog and enjoyed watching her grandkid?s play sports. She married Ricardo Valdivia on May 17, 1973 in Topeka, he survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Laurie Valdivia, a son, Mario Valdivia, four sisters, Carmen Flowers, Patricia Stanley, Rosalie Garcia, Maggie Castardo, three brothers, John Guerrero, Domingo Castardo all of Topeka and Joe Castardo of Hawaii. Two grandchildren, D?Mya and D?Mario Valdivia also survive along with many nieces and nephews. Mary will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Parish Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
