Benjamin "Benny" Zarazua, 73, of Topeka, died April 26, 2012 at Stormont-Vail Hospital of injuries sustained in a traumatic fall. He was born in Pauline, Kansas on August 21, 1938, the son of Jose and Esther (Servantez) Zarazua. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sue (Bokay) Zarazua, brothers?, Jesus and Ruben Zarazua, sister, Mary Delores Zarazua and grandsons, Michael Robertson and Jonathan Edwards, Jr. Benny retired from Laird Noller Ford, but also worked at Seymore Foods, USD #501 and was an independent roofer. He enjoyed bowling, playing softball, basketball, and refereeing. He enjoyed family-gatherings and was always the life of the party. Benny was very close to his children, his brother, sister and grandchildren. He loved to reminisce on his life living in Pauline. No matter how down a person was, Benny naturally lifted their spirits with a joke or two, to make them laugh. He will always be remembered as the person who had a smile for everyone. He is survived by his daughters, Shelli and Anita Zarazua, Denise Grace and Keri (Chris) Overby, all of Topeka. He is also survived by his siblings, John, Danny (Mary Ann), Lupe (Isabel) and Ralph (Deb) Zarazua, Linda (Victor) Anguiano, Irene (Lupe) Flores and Vera Zarazua (Rick Mendoza), all of Topeka and Joe (Delores) Zarazua of Bellwood, IL and a sister-in-law, Victoria Zarazua. Benny is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, along with generations of nieces and nephews. Benny will lie in state from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where a Parish Rosary Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at the church.
