Gregory Florez

Gregory Florez, 80, of Topeka, died March 28, 2012 at Manor Care. He was born in Topeka, Kansas on April 3, 1931 the son of Jesus and Manuela (Guerrero) Florez. He was a graduate of Topeka High School. Gregory was a welder and painter for the Santa Fe Shops. He is survived by two sons, Gregory Jesse Florez of Topeka and Edward Donald Florez of Leavenworth, two daughters, Laura Susan Rivera (Luis) of Topeka and Sharon K. Cruz (Frank) of Olathe, Ks., two brothers, Henry Florez and Danny Florez-Sanchez of Topeka and a sister Mary Galvan of San Antonio, TX. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Manuela Florez, his step mother, Jesusita Florez, and his siblings, Cruz, Jenny, Lucy, Soledad, Delores, Joe, Raymond and Jesus. Gregory will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Sunday after 2:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11;00 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Cremation will follow. Inurnment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
