Shirley E. Slover, 88, of Topeka, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Midland Hospice Care. Shirley was born August 14, 1923 in Paxico the daughter of Edward Joseph and Mary (Wilshire) Schutter. She was a 1941 graduate of Paxico High School. She was employed by the State of Kansas as a personnel clerk until her retirement. Shirley was very active in bowling leagues and was instrumental in starting the Wii Bowling at the Presbyterian Manor for its residents. She was a member of the Moose Lodge. She married Don Slover in Topeka, Kansas on September 24, 1944. He preceded her in death on February 5, 1968. She was also predeceased by her companion, Leo Muckenthaler and two sisters, Letha Johnson and Wilma Undorf. Shirley is survived by her children, Donna (Ed) Black of Lawrence, Geary (Diane) Slover of Topeka, John (Shirley) Slover of Topeka, Harvey (Nancy) Slover of Mayetta, and Sharon (Randy) Moore of Carbondale. Twelve grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren also survive. Shirley will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Sunday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Midland Hospice Care or the Good Samaritan Fund at the Topeka Presbyterian Manor and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
