Emily Anne Stueve, 31, of Topeka, beloved partner, daughter, sister, aunt, granddaughter, niece, cousin, friend, teacher, coach and shopanista passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 21, 2012 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas. Emily fought a strong, courageous, and inspirational battle against Cholangiocarcinoma (liver cancer), throughout which Emily continued to live, love and laugh ? a lot. She was born in Topeka, KS on June 3, 1980, the daughter of Alan A. and Sheila (Brock) Stueve. Emily was a graduate of Topeka High School and Washburn University, and received a Master?s Degree from Baker University. Emily was a biology teacher for the Seaman Freshman Center and also was an assistant girls? basketball coach. She is survived by her partner, Deborah Hamilton Stueve of Topeka, her mother, Sheila Stueve of Topeka, her father Alan Stueve and his wife Susan Jarchow of Topeka, her brother, Jeffrey Stueve of Trinidad and Tobago, her three sisters, Erin Stueve of Boston, MA, Reagan (Stueve) Tofflemire and her husband Bill and their sons Chase and Jeffrey of Topeka, and Rebecca Stueve of Kansas City, MO, and her maternal grandmother, Helen Brock of Topeka, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Dorothy Stueve and Martin Brock. Emily will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, on Friday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., followed by a Vigil and Prayer Service with shared memories at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 17th and Stone, at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Cremation will follow. Private inurnment will be held later at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Emily?s favorite color was pink and attendees are encouraged to wear pink to all services (and every day) in celebration of Emily. In lieu of flowers, Emily would prefer memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Emily Stueve Memorial Fund, care of the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603. The family would like to thank all of Emily's caregivers for the compassionate care provided to her during her illness.
