Blanche Beatrice Hardy-Young, 85 years old and a resident of Missouri City, TX and Gainesville, FL was called home by the Lord on March 14, 2012. Blanche was the only child of John and Clara Hardy, born on March 4, 1927 in Montrose, Arkansas. She grew up in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, where she met and later married Jesse Lee Young following his return at the end of World War II. They were married on April 14, 1946. They moved from Arkansas to Topeka, KS, where their seven daughters and three sons were born and raised and where she was a long-time member of Assumption Catholic Church. Jesse preceded Blanche in death on March 9, 1983, after which she moved to Missouri City, TX. She is survived by her ten children: Vaneica Y. Young (Gainesville, FL); Mildred D. Young (Houston, TX); Eddie H. Young (Topeka, KS); Kathy L. Young (Houston, TX); Lori L. Jansen ( Missouri City, TX); Janice L. Young (Fresno, TX); Leslye H. Young (Missouri City, TX); Jesse L. Young (Missouri City, TX); Vanessa Y. Young (Missouri City, TX); and Blanche B. Young (Houston, TX) -- Her seven grandchildren: Angela Schmidt-Strickland (husband, Scott), Monica Meyer (husband Guy), Catherine St. John (husband Dave), Phillip Young (wife Holly), Nicole Jansen-White (husband Philip), Corinne Jansen, and Gabrielle Young -- her 11 great-grandchildren: Jason Schmidt, Skye Schmidt, Shane Strickland, Adrian Young, Cameron Meyer, Victoria Meyer, Noah St. John, Anah St. John, Phillip Young II, Anthony Young and Evangeline Young ? her Son-in-Law, Robert Jansen and her Daughter-in-Law, Vickie Young. She will be remembered with great love and respect by family, friends, and the numerous people she helped through her tireless efforts in social services and as a community activist in Topeka, KS. The family sends its sincere thanks to the staff of St. Luke?s Episcopal Hospital, Methodist Hospital, Sugarland and Houston Hospice in appreciation of their care and services and to the many that supported her with their prayers. Most of all, we thank our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, without whom none would be saved. A private graveside service will be conducted in Topeka, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your favorite charity. We will continually carry in our hearts our memories of our Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and Mother-in-Law.
