George P. Desch, 85, of Topeka, died March 9, 2012 at Stormont-Vail Healthcare. George was born May 30, 1926 in Topeka. He was one of fifteen children born to Casper and Mary (Jacob) Desch. He attended Kaw Valley Grade School and graduated from St. Josephs Grade School. George served in the Army for two years including a tour of duty in Korea. He farmed and was in the produce business all of his life. George married Goldie Raab in September of 1955 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, she survives. Other survivors include two sons, Earl and his wife Jenny Desch of Kansas City, MO, Timothy Desch and his fiancée, Theresa McCulley of Topeka, a brother, Raymond Desch of San Antonio, TX, two sisters, Mary Parry of Topeka and Florence Negri of Wichita, KS, along with many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ed, John , Francis, Pete, Casey, Catherine, Rose, Barbara and Betty. George will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. a rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
