Michael William Oldham

Michael W. Oldham, 58, of Topeka, died February 14, 2012 at a local hospital. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 25, 1953 the son of William W. and Phyllis A. (Morgan) Oldham. Michael served in the U.S. Marines. He worked as a Social Security Disability Advocate until his retirement. He was an avid collector of model trains and was an accomplished woodworker. He loved all animals especially his cat Smacky and dog Li-Li. Michael married Mary Freimuth in Catonsville, Maryland on April 11, 1986. She survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Heather (Brent) Johnson and Mandy (Rickey) Montalvo all of Fountain, Colorado, a sister, Teresa Dixon of Tucson, Arizona, five grandchildren, Nicholas, Joel and Kevin Johnson and Ashley and Natalie Montalvo, and nieces and nephews. He was welcomed home by his parents and Baby Kayla. He will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Friday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Grantville Cemetery in Grantville, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
