William B. "Bill" Connell, 64, of Topeka, died February 10, 2012 at his home. He was born in Junction City, Kansas on March 22, 1947 the son of Joel and Wilda (Vermillion) Connell. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. Bill was a member of the American Legion Capitol Post #1. Bill worked in Bridge Construction for United Construction out of Des Moines, Iowa. He had previously worked for Frito Lay and the International Harvesters. He enjoyed woodworking, especially carpentry. He also loved to fish, go boating and camping, and watching the History and Discovery channels and old western movies. Bill was an avid Chiefs fan. He married Linda Raines in Miami, Florida on May 28, 1994. She survives. He is also survived by his mother, Wilda Connell of Junction City, Ks., two step-sons, Karl Lee and Brian Weixelman both of Topeka, a step-daughter, Tammy Lee of Topeka, four step grandchildren and one step great grandchild, a brother Kevin (Karen) Connell of Junction City, Ks., and two sisters, Linda (Leroy) Kramer of Junction City, Kansas and Becky (Roger) Bourland of Houston, Texas. Mr. Connell was cremated. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
