Gary Arlen Dumas, 78, of Topeka, died December 6, 2011 at Midland Hospice House. He was born on February 13, 1933 in Concordia, Kansas the son of Archie Patrick and Maxine G. (Hill) Dumas. Gary served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957. He was a self-employed painter until his retirement. He was a member of Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic church and the American Legion. Gary married Deborah J. Longenecker in Topeka, Kansas on July 8, 1978. She survives of the home. He is also survived by two sons, Mark (Yem) Wiget of Ukiah, CA., Tyler (Paula) Dumas of Gilbert, AZ., three daughters, Cindy (Cliff) Staves of Hempstead, TX., Leslie Place of Houston, TX., and Erin (Nathan) Eddy of Bentonville, AR., a brother, Monty Dumas of Danville, CA., a sister Sharon Wagner of Lawrence, and fourteen grandchildren, Kelsey, Destin, Tanner, Katherine, Kylie, Ashleigh, Ethan, Peyton, Christopher, Dawn, Denise, Stacy, Kaitlin, Chelsey and two great granddaughters, Josephine and Samantha. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Misty. Gary will lie in state on Sunday after 2:00 p.m. at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church. Cremation will follow.
