Sara Sedalia Emperley, 91, of Silver Lake, passed away November 23, 2011 at Rossville Health Care. She was born September 27, 1920 in Shelbyville, IL. Sara graduated from Clovis New Mexico High School in 1938. Sara was employed as a Laboratory Supervisor for the State of New Mexico before she retired. She married Max Stone in 1942 while he was serving in the US Air Force. They divorced in 1943. Sara married Jeff Burnett in 1946. He preceded her in death and she is survived by four nieces, Glennda Burnett Bentley of Clovis, NM, Betsy Burnett of Ruidoso, N.M., Plamada Burnett of Diana, TX, and Beulah Smith of Shellbyville, IL, and a nephew William Burnett of Bend, OR. She married William Irvin in 1990, who preceded her in death. In 1992 she married Doyle Emperley. He survives her along with his children; William (Connie) Emperley of Burlingame, Craig (Nancy) Emperley of Fredonia, WI., Phillip (Shirley) Emperley of Topeka, Nancy (Rich) Estes of Osage City, Roger (Deffene) Emperley of Silver Lake, Stanley (Sue) Emperley of Scott, LA., Beverley (Tim) Masters of Topeka, Brian (Sheila) Emperley of Huntsville, AL, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. with memorial services to follow. Inurnment will be in Prairie Home Cemetery.
