Wayne Jones

Floyd "Wayne" Jones, 73, of Topeka, died September 30, 2011 at Stormont-Vail Hospital. He was born in Kincaid on May 12, 1938 the son of Floyd and Mabel (Swanson) Jones Sr. Wayne served in the U.S. Marines. He was a forklift operator for the Lawrence Paper Company prior to his retirement. Wayne enjoyed visiting with his family and friends. He married Judy Kitchell in Paola, Kansas on November 12, 1960. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2006. Survivors include his children, Timothy A. (Dell) Jones of Topeka, Patrick W. (Tina) Jones of Tecumseh, Ret. Major Gary D. (Connie) Jones of Newnan, GA., Cindy L. (Joseph) Cook of Berryton, and Christine D. (Charles) Martin of Topeka, fourteen grandchildren and four great granddaughters. Wayne will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Monday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
