Freddie H. Smith Jr.

Freddie H. Smith Jr., 71, of Topeka, died September 7, 2011 at his home. He was born on April 11, 1940 in Topeka the son of Fredrick Harrison and Bertha B. (Wikle) Smith Sr. Freddie worked for the Shawnee County Refuse Department. He enjoyed coon hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Freddie married Diana Lee McElhaney in Topeka, Kansas on October 14, 1960. She predeceased him on March 9, 2006. He was also preceded in death by three brothers. He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Busey and Becky Morgan both of Topeka and a sister Louise Maxine Rohr, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Freddie will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 11th after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Sept. 12th at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Topeka Cemetery.
