Edith Louise Plakio, 92, of Topeka, died July 15, 2011 at Eventide Nursing Home. She was born in Wichita, Kansas on February 4, 1919 the daughter of Herman and Mabel Divers. Edith worked in housekeeping for the Jayhawk Towers and for the government. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and doing upholstery work. Edith was a member of the Baptist faith. She was married to Louis Aloysius Plakio in Topeka he preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was a daughter Rosetta Johnson on September 21, 2007 and a sister, Odessa. Survivors include her children, Betty Davis of Detroit, Michigan, Louis Aloysius (Mary Ann) Plakio Jr., Kimo (Veronica) Plakio and Alonzo (Terri) Plakio all of Topeka, two brothers, Herman (Carrie) Divers and Walter Divers of Topeka, 33 grandchildren, 98 great grandchildren, and 29 great-great grandchildren. Edith will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the St. Luke?s Missionary Baptist Church, 2222 SE Madison St., Topeka. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
