Fidelia Schmeidler Herbert

Fidelia Schmeidler Herbert, 90, of Topeka died Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Manor Care Nursing Home. She was born February 20, 1921 in Catherine, KS the daughter of John and Emma (Wolfe) Schmeidler. Fidelia was a member of Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church and most recently at Christ the King. She married Charles W. Herbert on April 27, 1945 in New York, NY he preceded her in death January 20, 1990. She was also preceded in death by three brothers John, Celly and Gilbert Schmeidler and by two sisters, Sister Solana Schmeidler and Solana Moore. Survivors include a son Richard W. Herbert of Topeka and two brothers, Cyril Schmeidler of Catherine and Harold Schmeidler of Walker, along with many nieces and nephews. A niece Marilyn Vasquez of Topeka has been her caregiver the past several years. Fidelia will lie instate from noon until 5:00 P.M. Sunday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
