Michael Anthony “Tony” Fawl, 28, and Michael “Hunter” Fawl, 5, both of Meriden, died June 14, 2011.
Mike was born in Topeka, Kansas on December 17, 1982 the son of Michael S. and Tamara L. (Christy) Fawl.
Mike attended Jefferson West High School.
Mike was a heavy equipment operator for Hamm’s Quarry. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially with his son, Hunter.
He married Kate Ann Gartner in Emporia, Kansas on November 17, 2004. She and their daughter, Naomi Elizabeth Fawl both survive of the home. Tony is also survived by his mother and step father, Tamara and Max Whorton of Topeka, step-brother, Bart Whorton of Kansas City, Mo., grandmothers, Myrtle Christy of Topeka and Elizabeth “Bette” Fawl of Scottsdale, AZ., and step grandparents, Jay and Hazel Whorton of St. Joseph, Mo. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael S. Fawl on December 28, 2010.
Hunter was born in Topeka, Kansas on February 23, 2006 the son of Michael A. and Kate Ann (Gartner) Fawl.
He attended the Head Start Pre-School program in Meriden and would have began Kindergarten in the fall.
Hunter loved to play with heavy equipment toys, go to the zoo and swim. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad. Hunter will be most remembered for his laughter.
He is survived by his mother, Kate Ann Fawl and sister Naomi Elizabeth Fawl of the home, his grandparents, Bill and Tina Gartner and Tamara and Max Whorton all of Topeka, great grandparents, Art and Liz Dennis of Topeka, Myrtle Christy of Topeka, Elizabeth “Bette” Fawl of Scottsdale, AZ., step great grandparents, Jay and Hazel Whorton of St. Joseph, Mo. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Michael S. Fawl.
Mike and Hunter will lie in state on Thursday after 4:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will follow in Meriden Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mike and Hunter Fawl Memorial to benefit a project at the Topeka Zoo, Head Start at Jefferson West or to Midland Hospice Care Inc. and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
