Angela Perez

Angela Perez, 90, Topeka, died Thursday, June 2, 2011 at McCrite Plaza.

 She was born August 2, 1920 in Topeka, the daughter of Presciliano and Lorenza (Ortiz) Gutierrez.

 Angela retired from the city of Topeka.

 She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society and the Third Order of St. Augustine.  Angela was very involved over the years as an active volunteer for the Fiesta Mexicana.  She enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, needlepoint, gardening and especially cooking and baking.

 Angela married Norbert Perez in Topeka in 1938 he preceded her in death in 1980.  Also preceding her in death was a son, Norbert Perez, Jr. in 1964.

 She is survived by nine children, John J. Perez (Susan) of Topeka, E. Frank Perez (Jennie) of Topeka, Henry Perez (Patricia) of Lenexa, Anna Marie Romero (Pete) of Lawrence, Bernadette Garza (Frank) of Hammond, IN, Agnes “Rita” Mendoza (Faustino) of Topeka, James Perez (Pattie) of Oro Valley, AZ, Ramona Perez and Mary Lou Perez both of Topeka, 12 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren and a brother Cipriano (Dee) Gutierrez of Topeka.

 Angela will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where a Parish Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m.   Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
