Adelle I. Dechand, 84, Topeka, died Monday, May 23, 2011 at her home.
She was born in Topeka on December 17, 1926 the daughter of Adelore E. and Alice I. (Oderwald) Collard.
Adelle worked at Wolf’s Jewelers and the YMCA
She graduated from Capital Catholic High School in 1944. She was member of St. Joseph Church the St. Anthony Guild and enjoyed sewing and quilting.
Adelle married Ralph A. Dechand on June 29, 1946 at Sacred Heart, he preceded her in death October 24, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Wendy Dechand and a great grandson, Devon Dechand.
She is survived by three sons, Paul J. Dechand and his wife, Lynn of Belton, S.C., Jim F. Dechand and his wife Susan of Topeka and Mark R. Dechand of Topeka, two brothers Robert F. Collard and his wife Sandy of Auburn and Joseph E. Collard and his wife Mildred of Bryan, TX, ten Grandchildren, twelve Great Grandchildren and one Great-great granddaughter.
Adelle will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Helping Hands Humane Society sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66603.
