Catherine M. Sommers

Catherine M. Sommers, 91, Topeka, died May 2, 2011 at Presbyterian Manor.

She was born April 7, 1920 in Topeka the daughter of Charles and Nell (Birmingham) Dale. 

Catherine was a homemaker. 

She was a 1938 graduate of Topeka Catholic High School, a member of Mater Dei Assumption Catholic Church and the L.C.B.A.

She married Bernard A. Sommers on May 3, 1939 in Topeka he preceded her in death on February 20, 1997.  Survivors include her children, Mary (Robert) Clark of Garner, NC,   George (Marilyn) Sommers of Silver Lake, Bernadine (Walter) Minihan of Topeka, Thomas (Sheryl) Sommers of Daphne, AL, Janet (Bryan) Boyles of Burr Oak, KS and Timothy (Karen) Sommers of Quinlan, TX, five granddaughters, two grandsons, three step granddaughters, eleven great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren, her siblings John Dale and Charlotte Noland both of Topeka.

Catherine will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a joint rosary will be prayed by the Parish, Daughters of Isabella and Knights of Columbus at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Mater Dei Assumption Catholic Church.  Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. at the St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Wamego.
