Thomas Eugene Plachecki

Thomas E. Plachecki, 53, of Topeka, Ks., left this world and all who loved him on Wednesday, February 23, 2011.  Tommy was born on December 14, 1957 in Topeka, Ks. to James H. and Marilyn J. (Helms) Plachecki.  He was married to Christine L. (Ridder) Plachecki for 23 years.  Tom was a graduate of Washburn Rural High School.   He worked at Topeka Metal Specialties for 34 years in CNC Operations and Programming Management.  His most recent job was at SPS Processing.

He is survived by his parents, James Plachecki, Waite Park, MN and Marilyn Lee of Topeka; his son Jordan and fiancé Teresa Langer both of Topeka; three sisters, Patty (Galen) Buck of Topeka, Janet Campbell of Topeka and Nancy (Roger) Masenthin of Harper, Ks along with twelve nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

Tommy truly LIVED his life each day.  All who knew Tommy witnessed his zest for life through the family he loved, the friends he cherished, the sports he played, the work he did, and especially the light of his life, his son Jordan.  Whether umpiring, fishing, playing golf, or relaxing with the family, Tom’s endearing presence drew people to him.  We will all treasure our special memories of this very special person.

Tommy will lie in state after 4:00 PM on Sunday at Christ the King Catholic Church where a rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. followed by the family  receiving friends until 6:00 p.m.  Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church.   Inurnment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Thomas E. Plachecki Memorial Fund at Landmark National Bank, Attn:  Cathy Abbott, 6010 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas  66615-1005 or to the Kansas State Trooper’s Association and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas  66603.
