Leon Beyer Kahler

July 4, 1928 — February 1, 2011

Leon Beyer Kahler, 82, Topeka, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Stormont-Vail Health Care.

 

He was born July 4, 1928 in Dover to the late Anna May Beyer and George F. Kahler.  Leon served in the United State Marine Corps during WW II and the Korean Conflict.

 

Leon worked briefly for Morrell’s Meatpacking and retired after working for Goodyear for thirty years.

 

He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church.

 

Leon was married to Bridget Ann Schiefelbein on June 19, 1952 in Topeka.  She survives.

 

Other survivors include a son Dan of Topeka, a daughter Diane and her husband Serrel Black, and granddaughter Jacqueline all of Overland Park, and a sister, Anna Marie Morehead of Topeka.  He was preceded in death by a son David, brothers, John, George Jr., LeRoy, Donald, Walter and a sister Dorothy.

 

He was cremated.  Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.  Inurnment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
