Earl E. Fisher

Earl E. Fisher, 90, of Topeka, died January 25, 2011 at Midland Hospice House.

 He was born on May 22, 1920 in Miller, KS the son Eli F. and Ruth (Mundy) Fisher.  After Earl graduated from Harveyville High School he attended Mechanic Technical School.

 Earl served in the Army Air Force from January 4, 1942 to October 23, 1945.  He served in the following campaigns and battles, GO 33 WD 45, North Apennines, PO Valley, Air Combat Balkans, Egypt-Libya, Tunisia, Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno and Southern France.  Earl was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and Distinguished Unit Badge with two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters.  He was honorably discharged.

 He was an auto mechanic for several car dealerships in Topeka before he retired.

 He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and cars.  Earl loved to help others and didn’t know a stranger.

 He married Rita T. McBride on October 12, 1946 at the Assumption Catholic Church.  She predeceased him on November 6, 2010. He was also predeceased by his parents and three brothers; Kenneth, Glenn and Eli Jr.

 Earl is survived by his children; Gary R. Fisher and wife Nancy, Marilyn J. Grabauskas and husband Michael, Debra K. Courtney and husband Orville and Timothy E. Fisher, ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

 He will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Thursday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Topeka, KS with military honors provided by Philip Billard Post # 1650 of the VFW.

 Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care and sent in care of the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka 66603.
