Jerolyn M. Wood

Jerolyn Marie Wood, 89, of Topeka passed away January 13, 2011 at Midland Hospice.

 She was born October 21, 1921 in Falls City, NE the daughter of Jerome and Frances (Vinyard) McCarty.  Jerolyn receive a bachelor’s degree in education from Auburn College in Nebraska, City, NE.  She taught school and later was a full charge bookkeeper for several businesses in Topeka before she retired.

 Jerolyn loved computers and reading.  In her younger years she enjoyed doing needlepoint.

 She married Jerald Hendrickson in 1941 and he died while serving in World War II.  On July 17, 1970 she married Hester J. “Jack” Wood.  He predeceased her on December 3, 1999.  Jerolyn was also preceded in death by two sons, James and Robert Hendrickson.

 She is survived by a daughter Dianne Brune and her husband William of Topeka, a daughter-in-law, Barbara Hendrickson of Ft. Meyers, Florida, a sister-in-law Sondra “Susie” McCarty of Jewell, Kansas, seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and her cat SuSu.

 Jerolyn was cremated.  A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Inurnment will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
