Raymond Tetuan, 74, of Topeka, died January 5, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital.
He was born in Topeka, Kansas on December 22, 1936 the son of Jose L. and Eugenia Tetuan.
Raymond was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a freight carman for the AT & SF Railway Company for 30 years prior to his retirement.
Raymond was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Transportation Communications Union #887, avid K.U. fan and was involved with the (A.F.S.) American Field Service Student Exchange program.
He married Maria “Lola” Lira in Topeka, Kansas on January 24, 1959. She survives.
Survivors include his children, Michael (Tina) Tetuan of Wichita, Michele (Justin) Dro of Kansas City, Mo., Renee (Landon) Trawny of Lawrence, A.F.S. daughter Mariñes Banassi of Brazil; six grandchildren, Dominic Carreño, Victor Tetuan, Alexandria Tetuan, Chantal Tetuan, Brogan Dro, Kellan Trawny and two great granddaughters. He is also survived by a brother, John Tetuan, and three sisters, Rachel Chavez, Eva Bermudez and Isabel Adams all of Topeka.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse Tetuan and Jose Tetuan Jr.
Raymond will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Sunday after 2:00 p.m. where a Parish Vigil will be at 6:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with military honors.
