Saturnino Rodriguez

Saturnino Augustine “Tino” Rodriguez, 77, of Topeka, passed away December 1, 2010 at Midland Hospice House surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Topeka, Kansas on July 16, 1933 the son of Jose L. and Edith P. Rodriguez.

Tino enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1952 and served in Korea before being discharged in 1954.  He was a licensed Bricklayer working for the Bricklayer’s Union.  For a time he owned and operated Rodriguez Refuse Service.

He loved the time he spent with his family and friends.  Tino enjoyed and appreciated music and the outdoors.  He was gifted at writing poetry and songs.

He was a member of Westside Christian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1650 and the Bricklayer’s Union.  He received an Architect Award for his brick and stone work.

Tino married Patricia Marie Brosemer in Lyndon, Kansas on January 16, 1956.  He is survived by his loving wife of the home, their children; Deborah Cisneros, Theresa Rodriguez, Linda Hollenbeck and her husband Terry, and Rod Rodriguez, ten grandchildren; Jonny Madrid, Maria Cisneros, Stephen Pittman, Joshua Pittman, Joseph Pittman, Rebecca Brown, Kristina Collins, David Hollenbeck, Tyler Rodriguez and Connar Rodriguez, four great grandchildren, Chance and Sterling Pittman, Kendalyn and Kassidy Brown.  He was preceded in death by an infant son Richard, four sisters; Caroline, Goldie, Ann and Pearl, and four brothers; Curly, Clarence, Clyde and Carl.

He will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Sunday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m.  Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Westside Christian Church.  Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by Philip Billard Post #1650 of the VFW.
