Karen Gomel

Karen Sue Gomel, 49, of Topeka, died November 19, 2010 at Stormont-Vail Health Care.

She was born on July 22, 1961 in Topeka the daughter of Julian and Clara (Gutierrez) Jaramillo.  Karen graduated from Hayden High School in 1980.  She later attended Kansas State University.

Karen was employed at Security Title before she retired because of illness.

She was a cheerleader at Hayden High School.  Karen later coached volleyball at Our Lady of Guadalupe School.  She loved spending time with her family.

Karen was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

She was married to Bradley A. Gomel on May 26, 1989 in Topeka.  He survives.  Other survivors include, mother Clara Jaramillo of Topeka, a son Andrew J. Gomel of Topeka, a daughter Allyson A. Gomel of Topeka, a brother Pastor Ronald Jaramillo of Overland Park, two sisters, Carol Jaramillo of Laurel, MD, and Barb Atwell of Omaha, NE, five nieces and nephews.

Karen will lie in state at Our Lady of Guadalupe church on Monday after 4:00 p.m. where a Parish Wake Service will be at 6:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home to assist her family.
