Rita T. (McBride) Fisher

Rita T. (McBride) Fisher, 84, of Topeka, died November 6, 2010 at Midland Hospice House.

She was born in Axtell, Kansas on January 10, 1926 the daughter of William H. and Teresa J. (McGrath) McBride.  She was a graduate of Seneca High School.

Rita worked as a secretary for Josten’s until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, and St. Bridget’s Catholic Church Historical Society.  Rita enjoyed sewing, reading and music.

She married Earl E. Fisher at the Assumption Church in Topeka on October 12, 1946.  He survives.  She is also survived by their children, Gary R. Fisher and his wife Nancy, Marilyn J. Grabauskas and her husband Michael, Debra K. Courtney and her husband Orville and Timothy E. Fisher, ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and her siblings, James McBride of Loomis, CA., Eva Rutherford of Topeka, Thomas McBride of Lincoln, Nebraska and Margie Ice of Brunswick, OH.  Rita was preceded in death by her father William in 1962, her mother Teresa in 1973, three sisters, Rose Ann McBride in 1920, Nancy Boose in 1986 and Eileen Thomas in 2006, and her brother John McBride in 2003.

Rita will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 9th after 2:00 p.m. where a Vigil Prayer Service will be at 5:30 p.m. followed by the family receiving friends until 8:30 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 10th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
