Alice L. Marten, 98, Topeka, died October 26, 2010 at Stormont-Vail Health Care.
Alice was born February 17, 1912 on a farm homesteaded by her grandfather near Wamego. She was the daughter of Regina Catherine (Repp) and Alex T. Lintz.
She graduated from Louisville High School in 1930 with a teaching certificate. She attended K.S.U. in 1932 to renew her state certification. She taught three years in rural schools in Kansas. She also worked seven years at the O.B. Larson Clothing Store and was employed eight years by the Saint Mary Hospital as a Pharmacists Assistant.
Alice was a member of Sacred Heart/Saint Joseph Parish.
She married Milton Marten on January 7, 1933 he preceded her in death on November 12, 1986. Her daughter, Bette Hess also preceded her in death February 25, 2003.
Alice is survived one daughter, Barbara Killam, one son, Thomas H. Marten, both of Topeka, KS, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a sister Ruth (Gilbert) Seiwald, of Wamego, KS.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Topeka Rescue Mission, Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the charity of the donor's choice sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66603.
