Dorothy Kramer, 87, passed away Monday morning at her home in Topeka, Kansas. She was born December 2, 1922 to Mark Brooke and Lottie (Myers) Brooke in Topeka, Kansas. She attended Highland Park and Lecompton High Schools.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers Francis (Bud) and Thomas, her sister Margaret (Peg), and her husband of 62 years, Kenneth Kramer. She is survived by her son Nicholas, his wife Belinda, and her grandchildren Brooke and Jack.
Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. As a young adult, she worked at the Shawnee County Extension Service. From 1963 through 1983, she was an active member of the Grantville community. After moving to Topeka, she continued to attend luncheon meetings with her Grantville friends. She loved dancing, she was an accomplished seamstress, and above all, treasured her friends and family.
Dorothy will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Friday at Mater Dei’s Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mater Dei Parish or the charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., 66603.
