John E. Lebbert

January 22, 1923 — September 18, 2010

John E. Lebbert, 87 of Topeka, passed away September 18, 2010 at Stormont-Vail Health Care.

 

He was born January 22, 1923 in Leavenworth the son of Hugo Henry and Rose Mary (Fellman) Lebbert.  John Served in the United States Army during WW II.

 

John was employed by the Kansas Department of Labor for thirty-nine years before he retired in 1985.  At the time of his retirement he was director of ESSI.

 

His hobbies included traveling and playing golf.

 

John was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #534, Philip Billard Post #1650 of the VFW and the American Legion.

 

He was married to Cora Belle “Kay” Hill on November 13, 1942 in Topeka.  She survives.

 

Other survivors include three sons, John L. (Nancy) Lebbert, Thomas W. (Sharon) Lebbert and Michael C. Lebbert all of Topeka and one sister Dolores Lebbert of Topeka.  Two grandchildren, Cheryl Coleman and Craig Lebbert also survive.  John was preceded in death by siblings, Henry, Grace and Catherine Lebbert, Rose Beurman and Theresa Swiderski.

 

The family will receive friends at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at which time a funeral service will be held.  Cremation will follow the service. 

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Good Samaritan Fund at the Topeka Presbyterian Manor sent in care of the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka 66603.
