Helen Marie (Raynor) Rusher

Helen Marie (Raynor) Rusher, 86, of Topeka, died August 31, 2010 at her home.

She was born in Topeka, Kansas on December 31, 1923 the daughter of Albert and Helen (Schlitter) Raynor.

Helen attended Hayden High School and was a graduate of Strickler’s Business College.  She was a charter member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. 

Helen married Joseph C. “Jack” Rusher in Topeka, Kansas on June 17, 1947.  He preceded her in death on March 12, 1982.  She was also predeceased by two sons, Ricky A. Rusher on August 6, 1981 and Daniel J. Rusher on June 22, 2001, and by a brother Robert and a sister Janet.

She is survived by a daughter Judy Schlink of Topeka, a son Michael Rusher of Berryton, Kansas, four grandchildren, D’Ann, Ryan, Miranda and Michelle, eight great grandchildren, three sisters, Berniece Freeman, Mary Ann Scheck, and Carol Blankenship all of Topeka.

Helen will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Thursday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. followed by a Vigil Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
