Lanney Garcia

Lanney Garcia, 61, of Topeka, formerly of Lincoln died August 30, 2010 at his home.

He was born in Lawrence, Kansas on July 1, 1949 the son of Frank and Mary (Huerta) Garcia Sr.

Lanney worked as a Carmen-Welder for Burlington Northern Santa Fe for 42 years prior to his retirement.

He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Transportation Carmen Union and was a sports enthusiast.

Lanney married Gloria M. Sepulveda in Topeka, Kansas on October 10, 1969.  She survives.  He is also survived by his mother, Mary Garcia, two sons, Jerome and Rolando Garcia all of Topeka, a brother Mark Garcia of Independence, five sisters, Rose (Tony) Ayala of Topeka, Chris (Robert) Garcia of Gardner, Debbie Feliciano, Tina Garcia and Ruth Torres all of Topeka.  To the Sepulveda family Lanney was like a brother to Yolanda, Lu, Richard, Joseph and Steven.  He was preceded in death by a brother Frankie Garcia Jr.

Lanney will lie in state at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday after 4:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be recited by Our Lady of Guadalupe Parishioners at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may to made to Midland Hospice Care Inc. or to the Lanney Garcia Memorial Fund and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas  66603.
