Frank A. Salinas, 89, Topeka, died Wednesday at his home with his family at his bedside.
He was born January 24, 1921 in Topeka the son of Isidore and Vincenta (Araiza) Salinas.
Frank worked for AT & SF Railroad, Allis Chalmers, and retired from Frito Lay.
He was a WW II Army Veteran.
He loved sports especially K.U. and the K.C. Chiefs, he enjoyed feeding the ducks at the cemetery and going for Sunday drives with his wife. He helped at the Fiesta Mexicana making hot sauce with his wife and cleaning the school grounds.
Frank was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where he was a volunteer and served as an usher. He was a member of Capital Post #1 of the American Legion
He married Loretta M. Reyes Muñoz on December 15, 1951 in Topeka she preceded him in death October 1, 2005, also preceding him in death were his parents, seven sisters and a son Robert H. Muñoz in March of 2004.
Frank is survived by two daughters Helen A. Muñoz Barreto and Helen Marie Salinas, both of Topeka, a granddaughter, Rosa, seven grandsons Joseph G., Robert, Jr., Rodney, Ryan, Rolando, Randy and Richard, fifteen great grandchildren, Corina, Amanda, Sage, Luke, Hope, Faith, Tyre, Taliyah, Alyssa, Kaiden, Landen, Brodye, Ashley, B.J. and Garrett, a great-great granddaughter, Elena. A daughter-in-law, Josie E. Muñoz, and a sister-in-law, Ascension Gutierrez, also survive along with many nieces and nephews.
Frank will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home with a Prayer Vigil Service at 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Fort Riley.
