James McKay III

James McKay III, 48, of Topeka, died August 12, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital.

He was born at Maxwell AFB in Alabama on April 26, 1962 the son of James and Laverne (Gordon) McKay Jr.  His dad died when he was young and he was raised by his mother and step father Len Binkley.

James attended the Washburn Catholic Campus Center.  He loved fast cars and motorcycles and enjoyed building model cars.

He attended a Vo-Tech college where he studied auto mechanics and small engines.  James was an auto mechanic. 

He was married to Lori Murphy.  Survivors include his mother, Laverne Binkley of Topeka, a son, James McKay IV of Kansas City, Kansas, a daughter, Whitney Lyn McKay of Rossville, Ks., a grandson, Cayden James McKay and a granddaughter, Sierra McKay.

Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, August 17th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Washburn University Catholic Campus Center and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas  66603.
