Douglas E. “Doug” Hollandsworth, 56, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010 at his home.
He was born in St. Louis, MO the son of Cecil E. and Alvena Katherine (Beying) Hollandsworth.
Doug was an avid motorcyclist enjoying going on cycling trips and participating in ROMEO’S... He was Chapter Director of Gold Wing Road Riders Assn.
He was a licensed EMT in Missouri. He graduated from the University of Kansas, Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in Hutchinson where he received certification as a Law Enforcement Officer and the University of Kansas for a Certified Public Managers course.
Doug worked for the State of Kansas for over twenty years including the Department of Administration State Self Insurance Fund and the Kansas Health Policy Authority from which he retired in 2009 as the Data and Operations Manager. He previously was the City Marshall in Winchester, KS.
He was a member of the Catholic Church.
Doug is survived by his best friend and fiancé Kris Green, an aunt Winnie Walstrom of Topeka, several cousins and many close friends.
Doug was cremated The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Inurnment will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in Easton. Motorcyclists are invited to meet at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home Friday morning where they will leave at 10:00 am.in a group to travel to Easton.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery Fund or Helping Hands Humane Society sent in care of the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka 66603.
