Henry R. Scheuermann, Sr., 92, Topeka, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at the Senior Living Center in Winchester.
Henry was born August 6, 1917 in Oakland, Ks the son of Henry and Lula (McAdams) Scheuermann.
Mr. Scheuermann married Mary Rita Siebert on January 17, 1937 in Silver Lake, she preceded him in death July 20, 2002.
Mr. Scheuermann worked for the Topeka Fire Department retiring after 27 years as Battalion Chief and was the oldest living firefighter at the time of his passing. He owned his own cabinet shop and later was a carpenter at Stormont-Vail Health Care. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and Moose Lodge #555.
Mr. Scheuermann is survived by two sons, Henry R. (Glenda) Scheuermann, Jr., Henderson, NV, Gary Lee (Barbara) Scheuermann, Topeka, three daughters, Phyllis Ann Walker, of Allen, Judith Kay (Celestine) Schneider, Oskaloosa, and Sandra Sue (Dean) Jones, Altamont, 20 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and two great grandchildren.
Mr. Scheuermann will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Friday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home where the Topeka Fire Department will conduct a Last Call Ceremony in his honor. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
