Lucy L. Dominguez

Lucy L. Dominguez, 81, of Topeka, died May 26, 2010 at Midland Hospice House.

She was born in Topeka, Kansas on April 23, 1929 the daughter of Gabriel and Adelaida (Lopez) Ortiz.

Lucy retired in 1970 as a Central Supply Supervisor for St. Francis Hospital. 

She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and St. Theresa’s Altar Guild.  Lucy enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking and helping to raise her grandchildren.

She married Pedro Dominguez Jr. on August 26, 1950 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Topeka.  He survives her.  She is also survived by her children, Richard Dominguez and wife Rosalie of Tecumseh, Susan Chavez and husband Romualdo of Topeka, and Darrell Dominguez and wife Jo Lynn of Olathe, and six grandchildren; Jason, Romualdo Ray, Michael, Marcus, Broderick and Isaac.  She is also survived by her siblings, Katherine (Seledonio) Esquibel of Topeka, Rito (Angelina) Ortiz of New Braunsfel, Texas, Joe (Ofelia) Ortiz of Topeka, Thomas (Loretta) Ortiz of Independence, Mo., Peter (Olivia) Ortiz of Topeka, Blas (Linda) Ortiz of Delia, Ks., and Mary (Marc) Salazar of Topeka and a sister-in-law Mercedes Ortiz of Orangevale, California.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Antonio Ortiz.

Lucy will lie in state on Monday, May 31st after 4:00 p.m. at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
