Betty J. Broxterman, 71, Topeka, died Friday, April 30, 2010 with her family at her side.
She was born in Topeka, Kansas on February 13, 1939, the daughter of Ignatius and Mary (Gable) Haberkorn. She was a 1957 graduate of Hayden High School.
Betty was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and was a former member of American Legion Post #400 Auxiliary.
She enjoyed gardening, crafts, cooking, sewing and especially being “Granny” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She married Orlin R. Broxterman in Topeka, Kansas at St. Joseph Catholic Church on August 29, 1959, he survives. She is also survived by two sons, Mark J. Broxterman and wife Paula of Silver Lake and Matthew J. Broxterman and wife Michelle of Topeka, seven grandchildren; Joel, Justin and wife Stacy, Brett, Jayme, Ryan, Dylan, Shelby, two great granddaughters; Jenessa and Carsyn, three sisters, Odelia Mick, Louise Schrieber and Leona Schoenfeldt all of Topeka and a brother Robert Haberkorn and wife Peggy of Topeka. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alvena Haberkorn and Katherine Dluhy.
Betty will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church where a Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503 will pray a rosary at 5:30 p.m. followed by a Parish Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
